Your First 30 Pages w/Kim Wright
Your First 30 Pages w/Kim Wright
Sunday, October 9, 2022, 1pm-4pm ET. In-Person, Location TBA.
Nothing in your book is more important than the beginning, because if a reader (or an agent!) isn’t immediately drawn into your book they simply won’t keep reading. That great reveal on page 178 or your closing plot twist are useless unless your audience is engaged from the get-go, and a strong opening depends on building a nuanced and compelling story world.
In this class we’ll discuss what needs to happen in “act one” of a novel, from introducing major characters, establishing the theme, and creating catalytic events that almost force the reader to keep turning one more page. Bring your work in progress and be ready to identify ways to make your first thirty pages even stronger!
Students who register for this workshop can receive $20 off on Opening Pages Individual Consultations w/Kim Wright the previous day (spaces limited).
NOTE: For the safety of all FWR participants, masks will be required at all indoor IN-PERSON FWR workshops and events. In addition, you must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, including at least one FDA-approved booster shot, to attend any IN-PERSON workshop. Instructions for submitting proof of vaccination will be provided in your order confirmation.
